Holding space: A creative act of being
Lately, I’ve been hearing a quiet confession - from founders, leaders, and friends alike:
“I’m here… but I’m not really here.”
They’re not asking how to win faster.
They’re asking how to 𝘣𝘦 more present.
Presence isn’t a productivity hack.
It’s not a system. Or a skill.
It’s about 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Being honest. Being grounded. Being real.
It’s not about control. It’s about 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 - the real kind.
Not because they dominate the room.
It’s because they can 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 it.
They sense what’s unspoken.
They listen beyond words.
They meet people where they are - not where they “should” be.
That’s the shift:
From 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 (rooted in dominance and ego)
to 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 - the kind that awakens potential, deepens connections, and sparks collective creativity.
𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 heals relationships, regenerates trust, and shifts entire systems.
When this happens:
Conversations go 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳.
Creativity feels 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘳.
Decisions become 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥.
Culture shifts 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺.
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲.
Why? Because the world pulls us away from ourselves.
Into noise. Into motion. Into distraction.
But choosing presence - real, embodied presence - 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵.
Especially now.
And here’s the part we forget:
𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.
Presence comes from depth - knowing yourself beyond your title.
It takes inner work, reflection, courage, and humility - asking better questions instead of having all the answers.
𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:
💡 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁. Don’t be the expert or fixer. Be you. That’s enough. That's what creates safety.
💡 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆. Your presence starts in your nervous system. If you’re grounded, others will follow. Especially when the room is tense.
💡 𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁. What’s unsaid holds the most weight.
Name it - gently, without judgement. That creates real connection and trust.
Presence isn’t just calm - it’s wholeness under pressure.
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀.
