2024: A Year of Transformation, Connection, and Growth
For me, 2024 was an intense and powerful year – full of depth, transformation, and meaningful encounters.
From lions in South Africa during my first Wilderness Leadership Experience to facilitating in-depth coaching sessions, delivering workshops, contributing to a book chapter, collaborating, and giving talks, this year has been a profound reminder of one truth: connection is everything. Connection to ourselves, to others, and to the systems that surround and sustain us.
Ian McCallum said it best:
"The most difficult journey of all is the one that takes us into ourselves. In that place, we confront our own fears, our own shadows, our own capacity for compassion. The wild is not something to tame or control, but to meet and respect. When we meet it, we meet ourselves."
Change begins where we look deeply – honestly, courageously, and with the willingness to think differently.
My Three Biggest Insights from 2024
1. Everything is connected and constantly evolving.
This year, my mentor Carol Sanford (known for guiding Apple and Google in innovation) deeply inspired me. Her wisdom reinforced that living systems thrive when we recognise and strengthen their inherent connections.
Whether in nature, teams, or personal relationships, these connections form the foundation for resilience, creativity, and growth. Strengthening them isn't just smart; it's essential.
2. Changing our thinking is the ultimate lever for transformation.
Innovation begins in the mind – and it's far from easy! As the saying goes, "You can't see what you can't see." Our blind spots, while challenging, often hold the keys to our most significant growth.
Radical self-responsibility – for our thoughts, energy, and actions – unlocks genuine transformation. When we change ourselves, we change the world around us.
3. Liveliness needs both structure and freedom.
Structure provides clarity, while freedom fuels creativity. This balance remains central to my work – whether in aligning teams or supporting personal development. When structure and creativity come together, vibrant systems emerge. This insight has been a game changer, shaping how I approach team alignment, personal growth, and innovation.
Looking Ahead: What Will 2025 Bring?
As we step into 2025, the world will need courageous leadership, conscious choices, and deep connections. My mission is to continue providing impactful approaches to empower innovators and systems.
